Upgrade your ESET remote management infrastructure

You can directly upgrade to ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 from ESET PROTECT On-Prem 11.1 and later.

A direct upgrade from the End of Life versions 7.2–11.0 has not been tested and is not supported.

Upgrade to ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1

ESET PROTECT On-Prem Mobile Device Management/Connector (MDM/MDC) component (on-premises only) reached End of Life in January 2024. ESET PROTECT On-Prem versions 11.1 and later do not support mobile device management. To manage mobile devices, migrate to cloud-based ESET PROTECT.

Check the prerequisites first.

Supported Windows operating systems

•We recommend that you install ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 on a supported 64-bit Windows Server OS.

•ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 is not supported on:

oWindows Server 2012 and earlier

oWindows 10

o32-bit Windows

•The only Windows desktop operating system compatible with ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 is Windows 11 x64. Installing ESET PROTECT On-Prem components on a desktop operating system might not be in alignment with Microsoft licensing policy. Check the Microsoft licensing policy or consult with your software supplier for details.

Select one of the options below:

•Upgrade to ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 using the All-in-one installer - This is the recommended option if the existing server has the default installations of MS SQL database and Apache Tomcat (the existing installation was performed via the All-in-one installer).

•Upgrade to ESET PROTECT On-Prem 13.1 using the Components Upgrade task

If you have ESMC 7.2, you must upgrade via the Components Upgrade task in several steps: first to ESET PROTECT On-Prem 10.0, then from 10.0 to 12.1, and then from 12.1 to 13.1.

Apache HTTP Proxy users

ESET distributes ESET Bridge as a Proxy component (replacing the Apache HTTP Proxy). Apache HTTP Proxy has reached Limited Support. If you use Apache HTTP Proxy, we recommend migrating to ESET Bridge.

Upgrade ESET Management Agent on all managed computers to the latest version using the Components Upgrade Task in ESET PROTECT On-Prem

Upgrade the ESET Endpoints to the latest version

Follow the instructions for your customers and/or endpoints; see Endpoints managed by ESET PROTECT On-Prem/ESMC/ERA.

We strongly recommend that you run the latest versions of supported operating systems on computers in your network.

You can use ESET PROTECT On-Prem to manage computers running unsupported Windows operating systems (for example, Windows Vista or Windows XP) with ESET applications in Limited Support, but some remote management limitations may occur. We do not guarantee the functionality of earlier ESET applications after they reach their End of Life.
