Upgrade your unsupported operating system
What will happen?
On January 10, 2023, Microsoft ended support for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) 2011 (including Extended Security Updates).
Due to possible changes made by Microsoft, ESET could be unable to release fixes and module updates for ESET products running on these operating system versions after the Microsoft end of support date.
Continuation of module updates
Module updates for ESET Server Security and ESET Mail Security will continue after the Microsoft Entrust certificate expires on December 8, 2023. If you encounter any issues with module updates after this date, restart the device.
We recommend you update all modules in your ESET Server Security and Mail Security and verify your Update module version is 1036 or later.
ESET support for business products running on affected Windows operating systems
The last ESET server products to support the affected Windows Server versions are:
•ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server version 9
•ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange version 9
•ESET Security for Microsoft SharePoint Server version 9
•ESET Mail Security for IBM Domino version 9
Upcoming releases of ESET server products (10.x and later) will not support the affected Windows Server versions. Due to module updates restrictions, the compatibility of these ESET product versions and affected operating systems is limited after December 8, 2023.
Support for the affected operating system could continue for other ESET products, but it is not guaranteed. For more information, see the system requirements section of the applicable product help pages.
Upgrade your ESET product for Windows Server and operating system to the latest version.
We do not recommend using a version of the Windows operating system that Microsoft no longer supports. Security patches are not provided, and we cannot guarantee full protection.
Version 10.1 ESET PROTECT components are the last to support the affected Windows Server versions. Upcoming releases of ESET PROTECT components (11.0 and later) will not support the affected Windows Server versions.
